On the Next Level: Inna Malostovker

On the Next Level is a series of interviews that features artists of the Art Nxt Level academy. The artists share their stories of how the academy has impacted their careers as well as share the exciting projects they have been working on. These artists have made the most of their experience and have taken their careers to the next level.

Today’s featured artist is photographer and digital artist, Inna Malostovker.

Congratulations on your photography exhibition! What was the process like in creating your proposal and how was Art Next Level able to help?

Inna: Before joining the Art Nxt Level Academy, I didn’t know an exhibition proposal existed. So, it’s safe to say, I started from scratch. I followed Sergio’s instructions very closely and was able to create a proposal that I am proud of. I loved the suggestion of creating a virtual gallery and taking a screenshot of that to show what the exhibit would look like in a gallery setting. After putting together the proposal, Sergio reviewed it and gave me some helpful pointers. It impressed the director of the botanical garden where I applied who said it looked very professional. And it got me the exhibit!

How would you describe your creative process in making a photography series come to life?

Inna: I do different types of photography as well as create digital art. Recently, I have been focusing more on wildlife, showing points of view that others may not necessarily see or notice. My interest in lizards started when I first took a close-up portrait and was able to see their unique charm which led to years of following these little critters and documenting their world. They are fun to observe and I wanted to show the beauty of these fascinating creatures with my photographs.

When did you discover the Art Nxt Level Academy and how has it been able to give an edge to your art career?

Inna: I joined the Academy about 2 years ago. Since then, I have launched a couple of series of small works and sold some of them, I have successfully organized a small local exhibit and an international virtual exhibit. I do have a daytime job, but now my photography is turning from a hobby to a serious career.

What about the way you approach your art career has changed since joining the academy?

Inna: My attitude towards my art career has changed completely. I feel much more confident promoting my work and explaining to other people what my work is about. I now have a wide array of tools to work with and a completely different art business vocabulary. Two years ago, it would not have even occured to me to approach a large established institution where I had no connections – like the Miami Beach Botanical Garden – to have an exhibit. And now I have a solo exhibition there, gave my first photography Master class and was asked to schedule more classes.

Do you have any additional thoughts or comments you would like to share concerning your photography exhibition or Art Nxt Level?

Inna: Art Nxt Level Academy is not only a place to learn, but also a supportive community. I have met a number of talented artists – some already in person, and have become good friends with several people from around the world. Fifteen of us from eight different countries got together and created the International Online Art Collective. We have already completed several projects and have many more exciting plans ahead.

Art Nxt Level is made up of artists from all over the world. Where are you located?

Inna: Miami, Florida, USA
